How to Build A Speaker Stand
(See Below For An Example Stand to Follow)
- Gather materials
- Wood for the top and bottom bases
- Steel Pipes (3-4 depending on desired design and sturdiness)
- Sand (about a 3 lb. bag)
- Brackets, screws, and bolts (6 brackets, 24 screws, and 12 bolts per pipe)
- Rubber feet (4 to hold the stand up)
- Cut the wood bases according to the size of the bottom of the speaker
- Attach the rubber feet to the bottom base
- Cut the steel pipes at the desired height (preferably so that the stand is ear height while sitting)
- Attach the brackets and screws to the pipes (make sure all screws are secure)
- Measure the distance between each pipe on the bases
- Attach the pipes to the bottom base
- Fill each pipe to the top with sand
- To make sure the sand doesn't come out the bottom, fill a small plastic bag with sand an insert into the pole and push to the bottom
- Attach the pipes to the top base with the screws (make sure all screws are secure)
- Finished project is ready to be used!!
How To Position Your Speakers
To get the best of your speakers, even on the stand, positioning them in a specific place for better listening is great! Some tips Cambridge Audio gave to their readers were:
- To have the speakers laid out so they can play along the length of the entire room
- Not putting objects directly in front of the speakers
- Have the speakers at ear level for best sound
- Leave space in between the wall and the speaker
