Week 10 Lab (Final Presentation)

During the last week of classes, the team had their final oral presentation in front of an audience during the class period. The presentation went well and as planned. Everyone was very confident about the presentation as our time to go came up. After the presentation, the tips that Katie Jo gave the class was great because it is going to help us as we go on in our college career and in the future. This term and project was really fun and interesting. There were ups and downs, but by the end of the project everything was perfect. The team became great friends and plan to keep in touch after our freshman year.

Week 9 Post Lab (Test Round 2)

During the second round of testing, more friends came to participate in the listening test. Each person got to pick their own songs and picked the option that they most enjoyed listening to. The results were great because each time a friend listened to a song, they liked the option where the speaker was on the stand. The feedback from each person was similar when commenting on what they liked and disliked.

Week 9 Post Lab (Test Round 1)

During the first round of testing, the team did the listening test on each other and found some measurements using the decibel meter. Three different types of songs (fast pace, medium and upbeat, and slow) were tested three times to get a range of sound. Using the data from the three decibel test Dana will make a graph to show the trends between the minimum and maximum range for each song. During the testing, each team member picked a song that they were familiar with so it would be easier to hear if there was a difference from on the stand and off the stand. From each listening test conducted, each teammate picked the option for when the speaker was on the stand because it was clearer. More listening test will be done with some of the teammates friends to see if they can hear the difference between the two options.

Week 9 Lab

During lab, Meghan and Anna discussed what was going to be done during the rest of the week in terms of testing. For the rest of the week, the team would conduct test to take measurements, make the powerpoint, and do the listening tests with friends. They were let out of class early so that they could bring the speaker stand to the dorm where the speakers were. While at the dorm, they tested the stand out to hear the difference and were excited to see that the project was a success.

Week 8 Lab

In lab today, the team worked on finalizing the blog and working on the final report. Dr. Knight gave the group a marked up copy of the Draft Final report and talked about some revisions that needed to be implemented for the final draft. The team decided the night before that the testing and measuring would be done outside of class, so the group will meet up later in the week. The team also thought of ideas on how to make the tutorial page for the blog.

Week 8 Pre Lab

The team met up the night before lab to completely finish building the stand. The top plate was drilled and attached. All of the screws, nuts and bolt connecting all of the components of the stand were tightened. The team decided that it would be impractical to bring the stand back and forth between the lab and dorms, so it was decided that the stand would remain in the Resident Hall.

Week 7 Post Lab

Since the poles were attached to the bottom base, the sand could be added to the each of them. Meghan filled the poles with sand and to avoid it falling out of the bottom, Anna and Dana suggested to put a plastic bag with sand in the bottom and then fill sand on top of it. While filling the poles, there was sand coming out onto the bottom base since the brackets weren't screwed tight enough onto the base. To finish filling the sand, the power drill was needed, so the poles were filled with as much sand as possible to avoid all of it spilling out.
